AASECT (the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists) is the primary credentialing body for sex therapy in the United States. CST certification is an additional, advanced credential built on top of my core psychology license. It isn't a separate license, but a national standard that recognizes specialized training in matters to sexual health and functioning. To earn it, a clinician must already be a licensed mental health professional, then complete graduate-level coursework in human sexuality, extensive supervised clinical experience specifically focused on sexual concerns, and complete a rigorous certification review.

Everyone comes to therapy wanting something a little different. Some people want space to think out loud and process what's going on in their life; others want something more directed and hands-on: concrete tools, structure, and homework between sessions. Neither is more "right," and you don't have to know which one you want before we start. We'll figure that out together, and we'll keep adjusting it as we go.

I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill insurance companies directly. That said, many clients are able to recoup a portion of their session fees through their plan's out-of-network mental health benefits.

I can provide you with a superbill (an itemized receipt of all services rendered) for your insurance provider. You submit the superbill directly to your insurance company for reimbursement of services.

  • If you do, I would ask directly about how the following codes are reimbursed

    • 90832 - 30 minute individual therapy

    • 90834 - 45 minute individual therapy

    • 90837 - 60 minute individual therapy

    • 90846 - 60 minute family collateral session

    • 90847 - 60 minute couples/family therapy

• What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met?

• What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed after I meet my deductible?

Knowing these details in advance can help you estimate your actual out-of-pocket cost.
